Privacy policy for the SizeFit apps

Effective 1 November 2026

This policy covers the SizeFit apps for Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Android. The sizefit.app website is covered by the website section of the full privacy policy.

The short version

The SizeFit apps

Your files

All compression and verification happens on your device (on Mac, iPhone and iPad, using Apple’s system frameworks). SizeFit opens the files you give it read-only and writes new files only to the folder you choose (on Mac, Downloads by default; on iPhone and iPad, SizeFit’s own folder in the Files app; on Android, see Android below). Nothing is uploaded.

SizeFit removes an original only when you ask it to: with Replace Original on iPhone and iPad (see below), or, on Mac, with the optional setting that moves originals to the Trash after a verified save.

Date, place and camera details

Compressed videos and photos keep the recording date, place and camera of the original, so they sort correctly in Photos. These details stay inside the file on your device; SizeFit doesn’t send them anywhere. Anyone you send the file to can see them, so if you’d rather not share where something was recorded, turn on Remove location in Settings › Privacy.

Photos (iPhone and iPad)

Videos and photos you pick from Photos are copied into SizeFit with the system photo picker, which doesn’t give the app access to the rest of your library. “Save to Photos” asks for add-only access, used solely to save the compressed file you chose to save.

“Replace Original” asks for read-and-write access to your photo library, and only when you tap it. SizeFit uses that access on your device for one thing: it looks up the original you picked, saves the verified copy with the original’s date and place, and asks iOS to delete the original. iOS asks you to confirm, and the original stays in Recently Deleted for 30 days. Nothing from your library is sent anywhere.

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch app shows the progress and results of the batch running on your iPhone. It gets them straight from your iPhone over Apple’s WatchConnectivity, device to device; the complication and the Smart Stack widget show the last result. It receives short status lines, sizes and verdicts — no file names, pictures or files — makes no network requests of its own, and nothing goes through our servers.

Android

The Android app (Android 10 or later) follows the same rules: no account, no ads, no analytics or tracking SDK, and it doesn’t collect, store or send personal data. Your files are compressed and checked on your phone or tablet and never uploaded.

You give SizeFit files with Android’s photo picker, the file picker or the Share menu, so it can open only the files you pick; it doesn’t ask for permission to read your gallery. The photo picker removes the location from the photos and videos it hands to apps, so SizeFit never receives it and the compressed copy has none.

Compressed files stay inside SizeFit until you save or share them. Saving puts videos, photos and GIFs in your gallery, in a SizeFit album, and PDFs in Downloads › SizeFit; with Pro you can choose another folder instead. Your originals are never changed.

If you allow notifications, SizeFit uses them only to show the progress of a compression and its result.

Network access

The apps make one kind of network request: they download the public list of platform size limits from sizefit.app/presets-v2.json (SizeFit 1.0 for Mac, iPhone and iPad reads sizefit.app/presets.json) so presets such as “Discord 20 MB” stay current. The request contains no account, device identifier or information about your files — only the standard data any web request includes (such as your IP address, which our hosting provider may process to deliver the file and protect against abuse). The apps work fully without it.

Purchases

SizeFit Pro is a one-time purchase. On Mac, iPhone and iPad it’s sold through the App Store: Apple processes the payment, and the app checks your purchase locally using Apple’s StoreKit. On Android it’s sold through Google Play: Google processes the payment, and through Google Play Billing the app receives only a purchase token, which it uses to unlock Pro. Either way, we don’t receive your name, payment details, Apple Account or Google Account.

Purchases on the App Store and on Google Play are separate and don’t transfer from one to the other.

Analytics and crash reports

The apps contain no analytics, tracking or crash-reporting SDK. If you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports. On Android, Google Play may provide us with anonymous crash and performance statistics (Android vitals) from devices set to share usage and diagnostics data with Google.

Children

SizeFit is not directed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
