SizeFit on a Mac: a batch of videos compressed for Gmail, each marked Verified, with the full verification slip in the inspector.
SizeFit on iPhone: a 4K video compressed for Gmail and verified as safe to send, with Share and Save to Photos buttons.

Made to fit where you send it

  • Gmail 25 MB
  • Outlook 20 MB
  • iCloud Mail 20 MB
  • Discord 20 MB
  • WhatsApp 16 MB
  • Messenger 25 MB
  • Signal 100 MB
  • Upload forms 10 · 50 · 100 MB

Email counts encoding overhead, so SizeFit aims lower: about 18 MB for Gmail’s 25 MB. Every limit, with sources →

The problem

“Smaller” isn’t the same as “still works”.

Shrinking a file is the easy half. These are the ways it goes wrong — usually noticed only after it was sent.

Audio quietly gone

The file is small and it plays — but the sound has disappeared, and nobody asked for that.

Files that won’t open

An export the recipient’s computer refuses to play, or a video that stops halfway through.

Originals at risk

A crash mid-export that takes the only copy of an important video with it.

How it works

From too big to safe to send.

Drop it, pick where it’s going, send it with proof. SizeFit remembers your destination for next time.

  1. Drop your videos

Drag clips onto the window or the Dock icon, pick them from Photos or Files, or use Finder’s Quick Action. SizeFit predicts the result before you start.

  2. Choose the destination

Gmail, Discord, WhatsApp, upload forms — SizeFit knows each limit and the fine print, like email’s 37% encoding overhead. Pro lets you type any size.

  3. Send it with proof

Apple’s hardware encoder does the work; if a file lands over, SizeFit tries again. Then every file is played back and checked — green means safe to send.

The verification slip

Nine checks.
Every file. Every time.

After each export SizeFit reopens the new file, decodes every frame and compares it with your original. If a check fails, the broken file isn’t saved — and one click retries with the safest settings.

  • Under the limit

Measured on the finished file, against the real target.

  • Opens and plays

A standard player opens it, without errors.

  • Plays everywhere

MP4 · H.264 · AAC by default, for Windows, Android and the web.

  • Plays to the last frame

Every frame decoded, so a file that breaks halfway is caught.

  • Same length

Within half a second of the original. No cut-off endings.

  • Audio kept

If the original has sound, so does the result.

  • Audio is audible

Loudness measured, so a silent track is flagged.

  • Picture matches

Sampled frames compared with the original, so a garbled or black picture fails.

  • Original untouched

Same size and date as before. Always read-only.

Shot on iPhone Pro

ProRes and Apple Log in. Ready‑to‑send color out.

ProRes runs up to 30 times larger than everyday iPhone video, and Apple Log looks flat and grey until it’s graded. SizeFit turns both into an MP4 that fits — in standard color, so it looks the way you shot it.

One sunset frame split in two: on the left the Apple Log original, flat and grey; on the right SizeFit’s export in standard Rec.709 color.

  • 1.21 GB → 17.2 MB12 seconds of 4K ProRes 422 HQ in Apple Log, ready for Gmail in 11 seconds on an M1 Mac — and verified.
  • Apple Log and Apple Log 2Recognized from the file itself, including iPhone 17 Pro’s wider Apple Wide Gamut. Nothing to set.
  • Checked in true colorThe slip compares the result with your original in standard color, so the picture check measures compression, not the grade.

A neutral Rec.709 conversion, like a camera’s built-in look — not a creative grade. ProRes RAW isn’t supported yet. How to send ProRes and Apple Log →

See it for yourself

Compare the difference. Trim what won’t fit.

Don’t take the slip’s word for it: put the original and the result side by side, on the same frame.

Compare window: the original and the compressed frame of a sunset, split by a divider you drag, labelled Looks the same as the original.

Compare

Drag a divider across the same frame of the original and the result. SizeFit tells you in plain words how close it is.

Trim sheet: a filmstrip with yellow handles and a marker where the selected part stops fitting the limit.

Trim or split

Too long for the limit? The filmstrip shows exactly where your clip stops fitting — or split it into parts that each fit.

If it can’t fit, it says so. When even 480p can’t reach your limit at a watchable quality, SizeFit tells you plainly instead of exporting something unwatchable.

Private by design

Your videos never leave your device.

No upload, no account, no tracking inside the app. Your original is opened read-only, every time.

On-device, offline

Compression and checks run on your Mac, iPhone or iPad. No internet needed.

Originals are read-only

SizeFit never writes to, replaces or deletes the file you give it. There’s no “delete original” anywhere.

No half-written files

Results appear only when they’re complete and verified. Quit midway and nothing partial is left behind.

The checks you’d otherwise do by hand.

FAQ

Questions

Something else? Visit Support.

Does SizeFit upload my videos?

No. Compression and verification run entirely on your device. The app only downloads a small public list of platform size limits (presets.json), without sending any identifiers.

Why does SizeFit aim for about 18 MB when Gmail’s limit is 25 MB?

Email attachments are Base64-encoded, which makes them roughly a third larger, and the message headers count too. A file of about 18 MB stays under Gmail’s 25 MB message limit after encoding. More in our Gmail guide.

Which devices does it run on?

Mac with macOS 14 Sonoma or later, and iPhone and iPad with iOS and iPadOS 17 or later. Apple silicon is recommended on Mac for the fastest hardware encoding. Pro bought on one device unlocks the others with the same Apple Account.

Which formats does it open?

Videos macOS and iOS read natively — MP4, MOV and M4V, including iPhone HDR video, ProRes and screen recordings — plus PDFs on Mac. MKV, AVI and WebM are not supported today because Apple’s AVFoundation can’t read them; SizeFit tells you up front.

Does it handle ProRes and Apple Log from iPhone Pro?

Yes. ProRes from iPhone 13 Pro and later is compressed to a standard MP4, and Apple Log (iPhone 15 Pro and later) and Apple Log 2 (iPhone 17 Pro) are converted to standard Rec.709 color on the way, so the clip doesn’t arrive grey. It’s a neutral conversion, not a creative grade. ProRes RAW isn’t supported yet. More in our ProRes and Apple Log guide.

Will the video look worse?

Fitting a long video into a small limit always trades away some detail. SizeFit keeps the highest resolution that still looks good at the available size, and Compare shows the original and the result on the same frame so you can judge for yourself.

Where are compressed files saved?

On Mac, in Downloads as “name-sizefit.mp4” (Pro can pick another folder). On iPhone and iPad, in the Files app under SizeFit — and one tap saves to Photos or opens the share sheet. Existing files are never replaced.

Does it work offline? Do I need an account?

It works fully offline and there’s no account. Purchases and Restore Purchase go through the App Store.

Is SizeFit a subscription?

No. The free version stays free. Pro is a single one-time purchase.
